I will reward both competence and loyalty – Joshua Alabi

NDC flagbearer hopeful, Professor Joshua Alabi

National Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential Hopeful, Prof. Joshua Nii Alabi, has assured delegates and party stalwarts across the country of his commitment to bridge the gap between party leadership and their grassroots.

According to him, one of the key steps to be taken in achieving that is rewarding both competence and loyalty.

Speaking in an exclusive interview at his residence with Atinka FM’s Kaakyire Ofori Ayim, he explained that per interaction he has had with party supporters all levels of as well as personal research carried out, it is obvious the apathy seen in the 2016 elections was due to people being rewarded because of their competency at the expense of loyalists.

Thus, he seeks to bring equity by balancing the two. He hinted that votes from the student’s fronts i.e. The Tertiary Educational Institutions Network (TEIN), was lost since the students realized that their parents had nothing to show after they (TEIN) worked tirelessly to win power for the NDC.

According to Prof. Joshua Nii Alabi, his motivation to lead the party comes from his long experience as an astute political figure, the apathy that was seen in the general elections and his ability in fixing the poor economy Ghanaians are battling with.

Prof. Alabi added that the NDC had no message prior to the 2016 elections and it was part of the disconnect.

He disagreed with people who say Joshua Alabi is not known and have not contributed to the progress of the party.

He noted that in 2001 after the NDC lost power to the then Kufour-led administration, his contribution came to bear when he chaired the Greater Accra Regional reorganization in creating a new look for the NDC.

“Whoever would make such comments does not know the history of the NDC and is a later-day saint.”, he added.
