The Ministry for Special Development and Initiatives, Mavis Hawa Koomson who spent GH¢800,000 of tax payers’ money merely to build a new website has on Monday the 20th of July, 2020 fired a gun at a polling station to scare her own people.

During an interview after the incident, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Awutu Senya East Constituency, Mavis Hawa Koomson has admitted to firing shots at a voter registration centre in her constituency citing that she was ”protecting herself”

Ms Koomson who doubles as the Minister of Special Development Initiatives told Adom FM that she fired “warning shots” because “there were no police around”.
She said she went to the centre after receiving information that people from outside the constituency were bussed to register there as voters.
Reports indicate that the Electoral Commission (EC) officials fled from the scene after the altercation.
Meanhwile, the Ghana Police has disclosed that four persons have been arrested after the shooting incident while the MP has been invited.
In an interview with Citi FM, the Central Regional Public Relations Officer, DSP Irene Serwaa Oppong said: “Yes, we will invite Honourable Hawa to come and assist us but then there is procedure. If you intend to invite a sitting MP to come to the Police Station to help us with investigations there is a procedure”.
The suspects are assisting with investigations into disruption of the voter registration exercise, the burning of motorbikes and the firing gunshots.
Additionally, the Police says the Kasoa Peace Town Top Hill Down polling centre where the incident happened has resumed registering voters.
