While NPP MPs Are Sleeping In Parliament From 3AM, NDC MPs Are At Home Enjoying ‘Heavy Breakfast’

It appears the drama of the 8th Parliament is far from over. After the dramatic and unparliamentary scenes that characterized the inauguration of the 8th Parliament of the 4th Republic last week, Ghanaians might have thought for a moment that our honourables will finally give us some respite.

This appears not to be the case, as NPP members of parliament, denied the comfort of their beds to enter the precints of parliament as early as 3 am just to occupy the majority side of the house.

By convention, the right side of the Speaker is designated for the side with the majority of seats.

It will be recalled that during the inauguration of the 8th Parliament last week, the NDC caucus pulled a surprise on their counterparts by entering the Chamber early to occupy the right side of the Speaker.

The NDC, then claimed that they have equal seats with the NPP and therefore could choose to sit anywhere they wanted to.

Desperate to also have a morale boosting victory over their colleagues on the other side, NPP MPs left the comfort of their beds and the warmth of their spouses as early as 4 am at dawn just to pull a surprise on the NDC.

Unfortunately for the NPP though, the NDC appeared to have been two steps ahead as they decided to stay home and enjoy a quality breakfast before attending to matters of Parliament while their colleagues on the other side dozed their stress away.
