Uprising in Ghana not possible – International Security Analyst

Business and Diplomatic Consultant, Farouk Al-Wahab, is certain Ghana is immune from an uprising ahead of the 2020 general elections.

His conviction is based on the fact that Ghana’s society is largely a middle-class system.

Al-Wahab explained that due to this middle-class system, people take responsibility for their livelihoods and will hardly join any needless protest.

“There can never be an uprising in Ghana because people take responsibility for their livelihoods and that is why Ghanaian politicians are on holidays,” he explained.

His comment follows a prediction by the Presiding Archbishop and General Overseer of the Action Chapel International Ministry, Nicholas Duncan-Williams that a wind of ‘civil uprising’ was blowing over the West African subregion.

The Action Faith Chapel Archbishop has aversed that an uprising akin to the Arab Spring will sweep through the subregion in 2020 and beyond if political leaders do not deliver on their mandate.

“I am predicting, by divine authority, after 2020 going if things don’t change, there will be an uprising, a civil uprising on the continent of Africa…You see the Arab uprising, there is a wind coming to Africa and to West Africa if something is not done,” Archbishop Duncan-Williams said.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem Tuesday, Al-Wahab said an uprising was possible in francophone Africa and not Anglophone Africa.

He explained that countries like Ghana and Benin don’t have militia or jihadi groups which pose danger thus will be very difficult to be plunged into chaos.

However, the international security analyst noted that such uprising was possible in Togo, Cote d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Senegal and Mali because they are a safe haven for criminals.

“All these francophone countries have political prisons, jihadi groups, Protestants and others seeking to usurp power of the ruling government,” he added.

Al-Wahab, however, said the caution of the Archbishop Duncan-Williams must be taken seriously by all countries in the sub-region.
