Don’t use church as a cinema – Prof Mike Ocquaye

Professor Mike Ocquaye, the Speaker of Parliament has advised Christians not to use the church as auditoriums or cinema halls by visiting just to watch its internal deco, performance and outfits of people.

He said the church was rather a place Christians went to worship, pour out their troubles and expect miracles to happen in their lives and therefore, must be respected as such.

He said this as the Special Guest of Honour at the commissioning of a new church building by the Bethel Kwabenya Prayer Ministry at Kwabenya on Saturday.

Prof Mike Ocquaye explained that many at times, people visited churches especially with nice structures and don’t concentrate on worshipping God but focus on the designs of the church and the beautiful dresses and ornaments used by people, which was wrong.

Prophet Dr. Solomon Douglas Nana Tih, the General Overseer of the Bethel Kwabenya Prayer Ministry said the Church expanded its building to get enough space to welcome many people and win their souls for Christ.

The Church he said, also undertook social responsibilities such as providing for orphans, giving children from less privileged homes free education in its basic school and engaging in constant clean-up exercise in the community.

He expressed gratitude to all those who helped to achieve the vision of the Church particularly Prof Ocquaye for his constant support especially when he was the Member of Parliament for the Dome Kwabenya constituency.

The Bethel Kwabenya Prayer Ministry started as a prayer group at a communication centre with a membership of seven at Adenta in Accra and later its membership soared after relocating to Kwabenya.

After a while, the Chairman of the Bethel Prayer Ministry International, the late Bishop Dr Paul Owusu Tabiri declared the Kwabenya prayer camp autonomous until the Ministry’s leadership acquired a bigger land to construct its new building.
