Interior Minister To Appear Before Parliament Over Killing Of Mfantseman MP

Mr Ambrose Dery, the Minister for the Interior is expected to appear before Parliament on Tuesday to brief the house over the killing of Member of Parliament for Mfantseman, Mr Ekow Quansah Hayford.

This follows a directive by the Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye.

The directive was spurred by the killing of the MP for the Mfantseman Constituency, Ekow Quansah Hayford.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Mfantseman Constituency, Ekow Quansah Hayford, was reportedly been shot dead today on the Abeadze Dominase – Abeadze Duadzi – Mankessim Road around 1:am on his return from a campaign trip.

Confirming the news, the New Patriotic Party’s First Vice Constituency Chairman, Wofa Yaw, said they were returning from a campaign tour when armed robbers attacked them.

Following the killing of Mr Ekow Quansah, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Mfantseman constituency has suspended its campaign.

The NDC in a statement, signed by its Constituency Chairman, Fred Budu Hagan, called on the Police to do everything in their power to apprehend the perpetrators of the heinous crime and let the law deal ruthlessly with them.

Meanwhile, politicians have all united to throw their support and have sent their wishes of condolences to the bereaved family of the MP for Mfantseman.

Families and constituents broke down in tears and flooded the premises of the Saltpond Hospital when Mr Hayford’s body was being conveyed from the mortuary.
