Hearts of Oak CEO Frederick Moore Speaks On Joseph Esso Contract Extension Saga

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Accra Hearts of Oak, Frederick Moore has cleared the waves on Joseph Esso contract renewal saga.

The Phobian striker Joseph Esso, together with four other players have left the club after failing to renew their contract.

Report emerged that the supporters in consultation with the hierarchy of the club have agreed to award a new contract to the former Ebusua Dwarfs forward.

However, Esso’s hope of returning to the club has been collapsed after the club failed to reach agreement with the camp of the forward.

According to the CEO of the club, Mr Frederick Moore, the club was willing to renew his contract but the player wanted to leave, hence our inability to renew his contract.

“When we met, the technical team, the communication team was there. I chaired that meeting. That was the day we were releasing the players that we think we didn’t want to count on them again. That was the same day we met Esso. His contract has ended. The only thing we could do was to extend it for him to stay and if the player says he want leave it as it is, what else do I need to explain to people”

Mr Moore also debunked the reports circulating that he has refused to accept to negotiate with a player from abroad, who wants to join the Accra based club.

“I’ve seen so many things on social media, I can’t go round and try to answer everything on social media. Yesterday, I read about a player who has traveled back from abroad said he’s negotiating with me for the last few months and I haven’t accepted, let me tell you, I’ve never met the player. Today I heard Ashgold is negotiating with one of our players. Ashgold have not written any letter to us regarding our player. In management, what I have to look at are the goals you want to fulfil. If I spend all my time talking about the past, we’ll never achieve our goals,” He stated.

“We also heard people saying every year players force their ways out from the club. If I ask you, the year before, how many players left, you wouldn’t be able to tell me,” he concluded.

The Black Stars ‘B’ attacker has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Porcupine Warriors ahead of a proposed move, according to a reliable source.

He managed to score three goals in his fourteen (14) game outings for the Rainbow club in the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League season which was cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Esso is one of the highly-rated attackers in the Ghanaian top-flight league following his exploits for the last four seasons.

He was a key member of the Black Stars ‘B’ squad that won silver medal at the 2019 WAFU Cup held in Senegal.
