Super Cup: Asante Kotoko To Face Winners Of FA Cup On September 4

Kumasi Asante Kotoko who were recently crowned Ghana Premier League champions are waiting to face winners of the MTN FA Cup on September 4.

The Kumasi-based club won their 25th topflight trophy in 2021/22 after a season where they controlled their competitors.

Head coach of the Porcupine Warriors, Prosper Narteh Ogun’s men, therefore, be looking forward to defend their trophy next season and will also be representing Ghana in the CAF Champions League.

Before the 2022/2023 season kicks off, though, the champion of the league and the FA Cup winner will battle it out in the Super Cup.

Kotoko have already booked their place in the final, but will now wait for the winners of the FA Cup between Accra Hearts of Oak and Bechem United.

The MTN FA Cup will be played on Sunday, 26th June, 2022 and it will be contested by Hearts of Oak and Bechem United at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

Although the Accra-based club won the last year edition of the FA Cup, but Bechem United have been tipped to win the trophy on Sunday following their recent bad performance.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League will kick off on the weekend of Friday, September 9 to Monday, September 12, 2022.

This comes after the acceptance of the plan for the 2022-23 football season by the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
