February 16th: Ken Ofori Atta Set To Brief Parliament On DDEP
On Thursday, February 16, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta, the finance minister, is set to address the legislature regarding the domestic debt exchange program.
The Deputy Majority Leader of the Parliament, Mr. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, made this statement when he delivered the Business Statement of the House for the week ending February 17.
He said that the Speaker’s order to the Business Committee to call the Minister to present a policy brief on the Debt Exchange Program on Tuesday, February 14, had led to the leadership engaging the Minister.
However, Mr. Afenyo-Markin claimed that the Minister had said that he had agreed to an earlier engagement on the said Tuesday on behalf of the Government.
As a result, he had committed to show up in the House on February 16 for the policy brief.
Mr. Afenyo-Markin stated that the formal kickoff date for the 30th Anniversary of Parliamentary Democracy under the Fourth Republic was set for Wednesday, February 15.
In that regard, Parliament had planned a variety of events to commemorate this significant anniversary throughout the year.
The House will hear 38 questions, including one urgent and 37 oral ones, from the ministers of communications and digitization, sanitation and water resources, lands and natural resources, and roads and highways.
