In a groundbreaking moment for African music, Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy, often referred to as the ‘African Giant,’ has been confirmed as one of the performers at the 2024 Grammys.
This revelation came on Monday when the Recording Academy unveiled the star-studded lineup for the prestigious event, where Burna Boy will share the stage with renowned artists like Luke Combs and Travis Scott.
Burna Boy’s inclusion in the lineup marks a historic occasion as he becomes the first African artist to perform on the Grammy main stage.
The announcement, made on the Grammy organizers’ official handle, read, “Attention: African Giant @BurnaBoy will take the #GRAMMYs stage on Sunday, February 4th at 8 PM ET / 5 PM PT on @CBS.”
The Nigerian artist had previously received nominations in three categories at the 66th Grammys, namely Best Melodic Rap Performance for ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World,’ Best Global Music Performance for ‘Alone,’ and Best African Music Performance for ‘City Boys.’
