BREAKING: Antonio Conte Appointed As Tottenham New Manager

Tottenham have appointed Antonio Conte as their new head coach following the sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo.

The 52-year-old Italian, who Spurs targeted before appointing Nuno in the summer, has signed an 18-month contract – with an option to extend – at Tottenham following successful talks with the club’s hierarchy in London on Monday.

The former Chelsea boss, who guided the Blues to the 2016-17 Premier League title and the FA Cup the following season, has taken up his first managerial post since leaving Inter Milan, with whom he won last season’s Serie A title.

“We are delighted to announce the appointment of Antonio Conte as our Head Coach on a contract until the summer of 2023, with an option to extend,” the cub website announced.

Conte told Tottenham’s website: “I am extremely happy to return to coaching, and to do so at a Premier League club that has the ambition to be a protagonist again.

Conte has won titles in Serie A, including a hat-trick of Scudettos with Juventus, the Premier League and also managed Italy, leading the Azzurri to the quarter-finals of Euro 2016.

Meanwhile in local sports news, Senegalese referee Ndiaye Maguette will be in charge of Ghana’s final Group G FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 qualifier against South Africa.

The 34-year-old will be assisted by Samba Elhadji Malick (Assistant I), Camara Djibril (Assistant II) and Gueye Daouda (Fourth referee).

Lawson-Hogban Latre-Kayi Edzona from Togo has also been appointed as the Referee Assessor for the match.

Kachalla Babagana Kalli from Nigeria is the Match Commissioner while Ghana’s Christian Baah serves as COVID-19 Officer.

Referee Maguette’s last assignment in Ghana was in October last year when he took charge of the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan at the Cape Coast stadium.

Ghana will host South Africa at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at 1900 hrs.
