Mr Mahama also said the NPP government has failed to pay off contractors and sectors which has caused several workers to be laid off.
He further affirmed that the stubbornness of the government led by President Akufo-Addo to pay off workers has caused many destruction which cannot be undone.
In a Town Hall Meeting, the NDC flagbearer said, “For the construction sectors, some have lost their lives, some have been struck with strokes, others have had their wives divorced including others who have also laid off their work. In the banking sector, over 300 institutions have collapsed hence calling for the NDC will help to solve these unbearable situations.”
Mr Mahama on the other hand has promised to pay off all customers of all collapsed banks in full when the NDC comes into power come 2020.
However, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Ernest Addison in a meeting with President Akufo-Addo stated that depositors of all the nine collapsed banks in the country have been paid their locked-up funds.
Dr Addison said: “We had the [banking sector] reform in two phases. The first phase had to do with the banking system where we revoked the licenses of the banks. Depositors got their monies.”
