Samuel Ablakwa Accepts Citi FM/TV's Apology After Wrongfully Accusing Him of Kicking The Ballot Box As MPs Vote For The Speaker

The Member of Parliament for the North Tongu Constituency, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has accepted Citi FM and Citi TV’s apology after wrongfully accusing him of being the MP who kicked the ballot box during the voting for the Speaker of the 8th Parliament.

The dissolution of the 7th parliament of Ghana and the inauguration of the 8th parliament was characterized by unprecedented and unsightly events.

This took inception when the Clark of parliament who was also the chairman on the night decided to mislead the sitting with a fake ‘Proof of service’ purported to prevent NDC’s MP-elect for Assin North, Hon. James Gyakye Quayson from taking the oath.

Things became more tense during the voting process as some members were seen kicking ballot box and snatching ballot papers.

It could be recalled that during the voting process, Citi FM/TV’s journalist, Duke Mensah Opoku was heard saying the MP who kicked the ballot box was Samuel Ablakwa.

Given the principled and peace-loving man and legislator as he is, the journalist himself pointed out shortly that he was surprised the North Tongu MP could do that.

Rightly so, after further observations, the journalist realized that it was not the one who kicked the box. Mr. Duke Mensah Opoku immediately apologized profusely to Hon. Ablakwa for wrongfully citing him for the offense.

Hon. Ablakwa accepted the apology earlier this morning bring the matter to a close.

He reacted with a Twitter post saying;

”Why the attacks for something I haven’t done? Citi FM/TV, apology accepted.”
