NPP In Shock Of Their Lives As Alban Bagbin Is Elected Speaker of The 8th Parliament

In an election which the NDC was given no chance, considering Ghana’s extreme partisanship, lady luck managed to smile on the opposition.

The election for the new speaker started moments after 12:00am January 7 through the night to about 6:00am.

Alban Bagbin, the NDC minority’s nomination for Speaker of Parliament has won the election against the NPP and President Akufo-Addo’s choice.

As shocking and interesting as it may sound, this is a clear slap in the face by internal opposition within the NPP who probably sought to remind the Party that they still are around.

With 137 seats plus the Support of an Independent Candidate, the NPP’S candidate, Prof. Aaron Mike Ocquaye was expected to be elected as speaker without any issues.

Alas, internal opposition had other ideas. As people begin to wonder who might have stabbed the NPP in the back, my suspicion cannot be more clearer.
