High School Students In Kumasi Caught Singing ”Free SHS, 419” After Paying For The 2020 WASSCE Fees

A video trending online shows Senior High School students in Kumasi singing a newly composed song to ridicule the Free Senior High School program.
According to reports, the video was recorded in one of the Senior High Schools in the Ashanti Region a few days ago.
This came to light after the president announced that the government had absorbed WASSCE registration for all Senior School Students for the year 2020.

Addressing the nation as final year SHS and second year Gold Track students were preparing to return to school, the President indicated that 75.4 million cedis will be channeled towards that endeavour.
But new information from the Ghana Education Service reveals that the president’s assertion was not 100% true.

But the Head of School Examinations Administration Department of the Ghana Office of the West African Examination Council (WAEC), Godfried Addo has revealed that though this is true, there were some exceptions.
Mr. Godfried went on to clarify that the government’s absorption of the 2020 WASSCE fees covered only students in recognized educational institutions and not private High Schools.

Reacting to this, some students came up with their own songs to describe how they feel about the ‘Free SHS’ as it is not ‘FREE’ after all.
