REVEALED! Why Hon. Muntaka Mubarak Was Ousted from Minority Chief Whip Role

In an exclusive interview, Hon. Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, former Minority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for the Asawase Constituency, has provided insights into the circumstances surrounding his removal from his position in the parliament.
Hon. Muntaka disclosed that the decision to remove him was connected to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairmanship race between Mr. Asiedu Nketiah and Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, scheduled for the party’s National Executive Congress. He shared that the Former Minority Leadership had aimed to maintain neutrality in this internal race.
Party elders had approached the parliamentary leadership, urging Mr. Asiedu Nketiah to step down from his National Chairman candidacy to promote collaboration between the two contenders. Regrettably, mediation efforts proved unsuccessful, prompting the parliamentary leadership to decide on a neutral stance.
Tensions escalated when the Minority officially distanced itself from claims that the NDC caucus in Parliament was backing Mr. Nketiah. Hon. Muntaka affirmed his commitment to his principles, stating that he would make the same choice again if presented with a similar situation.
The change in leadership following Muntaka Mubarak’s removal saw Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson taking over as the new Minority Leader, Kofi Armah Boah assuming the role of Deputy Minority Leader and Kwame Agbodza becoming the Chief Whip, replacing Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak.
This revelation sheds light on the intricate dynamics within political parties, as well as the challenges of maintaining unity and neutrality during internal contests. Hon. Muntaka’s candid explanation provides valuable insight into the decision-making processes that shape party leadership roles.
