NEWS FLASH: Suspended A/R NSS Boss To Face Probe Committee

Alex Opoku-Mensah, the suspended Ashanti Regional NSS Director, is slated to appear before a committee formed to look into assault claims made against him.

Following an urgent meeting on November 30, the committee was established by the Scheme’s administration.

This follows charges that Mr. Opoku-Mensah verbally abused a nurse at the Manhyia District Hospital while speaking to her on the phone.

On a leaked recording of their furious exchange, Mr. Opoku-Mensah can be heard cursing at the hospital nurse who cares for his daughter.

According to reports, the health worker asked Mr. Opoku-Mensah’s daughter, who happens to be a medical student, to check the prescription she gave to a patient.

Meanwhile, the NSS Director for the Ashanti Region has subsequently apologized, saying that his behavior is not typical of him. He stated as follows:

“This has never been my style but for a genuine reason to mediate a persistent issue between my daughter(Doctor) and a colleague nurse who I as well consider my daughter.

I do apologize for any mishap and assure all, there shall not be a repetition of such. I look forward to maintaining a cordial relationship with any affected person.”

Despite his apology, a committee made up of officials from the Ministry of Education, the Public Services Commission, and the NSS has been established to look into the matter and provide a report within a month.
