The history of Highlife and Afrobeat music in West Africa is incomplete without mentioning two legendary figures, guitarist Ebo Taylor and drummer Ekow Alabi Savage. Both musicians have played vital roles in shaping the sound and global appeal of African music.

Ebo Taylor, a pioneer of Ghanaian Highlife and a key architect of Afrobeat, is celebrated for blending traditional Ghanaian rhythms with jazz and funk influences. His innovative compositions and arrangements have inspired generations of African and international artists.
