Police CID summons Mugabe over Manasseh’s murder plot

Late afternoon political talk show host of Accra-based Radio XYZ, Salifu Maase popularly called Mugabe has been summoned to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service tomorrow, March 12, 2019 over claims there are attempts to murder Joy Fm’s investigative Journalist, Manasseh Azuri Awuni.

The Broadcast Journalist had claimed there were plans within the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) to have the journalist killed in eleven months stating he was not a coward to run away from making public such plans.

Salifu Maase, aka Mugabe, said the NPP would kill him just like Ahmed Suale, the private investigator of ace journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, who was gruesomely killed recently by some assailants.

Mugabe claimed he had been possessed by the ‘Holy Spirit.’

“The fake ones (prophets) can come out and say whatever they like but I’m speaking in the spiritual realm. Manasseh Awuni, I am speaking to your parents and I’m not speaking as Mugabe but the Holy Spirit is using me,” he claimed.

A letter signed by the Director General of the Police CID, DCOP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo Danquuah (Mrs) sighted inviting the journalist reads in part “The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service presents its compliments to the management of XYZ media. There is report of threat of death on the life of Joy FM Journalist, Mr Manasseh Azure Awuni. This threat happened in the wake the airing of the documentary titled ‘MILITIA IN THE HEART OF THE NATION on ‘DE EYE GROUP’ or Joy TV on 7th March 2019.

2. In view of the above, it would be appreciated if you could release Mr Mugabe Maase confer with the undersigned on Tuesday 12th March 2019 at 4pm. We would also be grateful if Mr Maase could submit any information that he may have to assist the Police to avert any plan or whatever threat on the life of Mr Manasseh Azure Awuni.

3. The CID is counting on your cooperation in the fight against crime and all matters of mutual interest”.
