National Youth Authority Supporting 50 Young People In Bono Region

Under its Skill Towards Employment and Productivity Program, the National Youth Authority is helping 50 young people in the Bono Area receive employable skills training in order to land respectable jobs (STEP).

There are 18 men and 32 women among the beneficiaries, who were chosen from underprivileged neighborhoods in the Berekum West and Banda Districts in the area, ranging in age from 15 to 30.

In order for the beneficiaries to receive instruction in hairdressing, dressmaking, satellite installation, makeup, and cosmetology, the authority provided working materials and equipment, including hair dryers, rollers and trolleys, sewing machines, and satellite installation machines.

The NYA created the STEP initiative to help young people develop trade skills and discover skill training support to help the nation’s crippling youth unemployment rate.

The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the NYA, Mr. Nelson Owusu Ansah, stated during separate ceremonies held at Jinjini in the Berekum West and Banda in the Banda District of the region that the STEP program was committed to empowering the youth to become independent.

He said that the initiative, which is being carried out in 30 districts around the nation, had created and put the recipients through four training modules, including dressmaking, cosmetology, satellite installation, and hairdressing.

According to critical evaluations, the beneficiaries were chosen from Sabiye, Makola, Banda Bongase, Kabrono, and Dompofie in the Banda and Ayinom, Jamdede, and Jinjini in the Berekum West.
