Men are the most vulnerable; they need to be treated same as women– Advocate
The Chief Executive Officer of L’homme Advocacy Network, (LHOAN) the only men advocacy group in Ghana, Yaa Boatemaa Asafo Adjei, has raised the eyebrow that it was high time Ghana and other advocacy networks paid attention to the rights of men, which, she said, are equally important as the rights of women.
Ms Asafo Adjei made this statement when speaking on one of the finest show in the capital Family Zone on Class91.3FM monitored by enewsghana.com
She bemoaned the situation where the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection only focuses on issues of women and children to the detriment of men but on the contrary men are the most vulnerable and needs to be treated same way women are treated.
Ms Asafo made it clear that: “Men’s rights are human rights, the voice of men are equally important, so, it is high time that the nation and society and other advocacy networks come together for the right of men.
“When we’re talking about the Gender ministry, it talks about male, female and kids, but all the time it is centered on women and the kids; this is where the inequality is and this organisation is looking out to bring equality in our country”, she told the show host Bishop Abraham Aidoo.
She further lament that domestic violence against both men and women should be addressed equally, as men are also being abused in their relationship.
Diving deep into fluent issues of domestic violence against men, she expressed that Domestic Violence on both on men and women, should be addressed equally. It is not that women’s lives are much important than that of the men. When you look around society, a lot of men are being abused. So, I want us to give an ear to the men.”Many thinks men are strong, but i must tell you they are the most vulnerable she added
Ms Asafo also encouraged men to be bold enough to come out and speak about their relationships and marriages, as their lives matter, too.
She stated: “And I also want to encourage men to be bold enough and come out to speak about what they’re going through in their relationships as well as marriages because their lives are also important.
