Luv FM Blood Donation Drive Draws Over 200 Volunteers

Kumasi witnessed a remarkable turnout of voluntary blood donors in the latest edition of Luv FM’s quarterly blood donation drive.

Held in collaboration with the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), the event drew scores of participants eager to contribute to the National Blood Bank.

The bustling forecourt of Luv FM and Nhyira FM became a hub of altruism as donors, driven by the desire to save lives, queued up to contribute over 200 pints of blood.

This generous donation is set to bolster the reserves at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital’s Blood Bank, a critical resource for medical emergencies.

Participants not only seized the opportunity to make a life-saving impact but also underwent health screenings in preparation for the upcoming festive season. Luv FM Blood Donation Drive Draws Over 200 Volunteers Luv FM Blood Donation Drive Draws Over 200 Volunteers Ali Mohammed, a dedicated donor who marked his 75th donation, expressed the sentiment shared by many, stating, “I believe it’s a life-saving activity, so I always make sure I join any blood donation exercise.”

For some, like Baffour, an 18th-time donor, the act of giving blood served a dual purpose – saving lives and ensuring personal health. “I donate for two reasons; to save lives and check my personal health. I always encourage people to volunteer to donate blood,” he remarked.

Kwame Asenso Mensah, Head of Recruitment at the Komfo Anokye Blood Bank, emphasized the social responsibility associated with blood donation.

He highlighted the increasing demand for blood, particularly among cancer patients, making these initiatives crucial for sustaining healthcare services.

Mensah commended Luv FM and Nhyira FM for their longstanding support, dating back to 1999, and urged Ghanaians to willingly contribute to the noble cause.

“It’s crucial for people to donate blood, and I’m urging Ghanaians to willingly donate blood,” he emphasized.

Both Luv FM and Nhyira FM have pledged continued support to the Komfo Anokye Blood Bank, demonstrating their commitment to the well-being of the community and the nation at large.
