Kwesi Appiah Expresses Willingness To Take Over As Black Stars Head Coach

As the search for a new senior national team coach continues, Kwesi Appiah is willing to take over as Black Stars head coach once more.
The former Ghanaian international has agreed to lead the Black Stars for a third time.
When the Black Stars competed in the World Cup in Brazil, Appiah was in command from 2012 to 2014. He was removed after the competition, though.
After Ghana’s underwhelming performance at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, his contract was not renewed by the Ghana Football Association (GFA), therefore he returned for a second spell in 2017, which lasted a similar two years.
In light of this, Charles Akonnor replaced Appiah after his departure. Afterward, Milovan Rajevac took over for a second time, and Otto Addo eventually led the squad to Qatar for the World Cup.
Following Ghana’s elimination from the group stage, Otto Addo resigned, leaving the top job open.
As a result, the GFA has been hunting for Otto Addo’s replacement ever since.
Chris Hughton, the former coach of Brighton, and Kwesi Appiah, a member of Otto Addo’s backroom staff, have both been named as candidates for the role.
In an interview with Dan Kwaku Yeboah TV, the former Asante Kotoko star iterated that:
“The fact that I have not come out to say I have stopped coaching if the opportunity comes and I can help why not?
“Once coaching is my destiny if I’m approached and I can help why not,” Kwesi Appiah iterated.
