Family Health Medical School Graduates 54 Doctors in 2023
In a landmark event, the Medical and Dental Council has officially inducted 54 graduates from Family Health Medical School into the esteemed medical profession.
The induction ceremony, held under the theme “Guiding the Professions, Protecting the Public,” celebrated the achievement of the newly qualified doctors who successfully completed their medical studies in 2023.
Professor Enyonam Yao Kwawukume, the Founder of Family Health University College and President of Family Health Medical School, shared the institution’s remarkable journey.
It began with the establishment of a clinic, which evolved into a hospital, eventually leading to the formation of the Medical School.
Professor Kwawukume highlighted that the school now boasts its hospital, the Family Health Hospital, making it the first-ever private medical school with an affiliated hospital in Ghana.
Encouraging others to follow suit, Professor Kwawukume emphasized the importance of setting up hospitals to enhance clinical training sites for students.
“We want our students to start learning clinical practices from the first year until they finish the medical program—a dream that contributes to improving medical care in Ghana,” he declared.
Dr. Charles Fleischer-Djoleto, the Dean of the Medical School, advised the newly inducted doctors to respect patients, colleagues, and uphold the reputation of the college.
He urged them to embrace their assigned postings, showcase competence, and ensure the smooth functioning of their roles.
Mrs. Rita Kaine, the Registrar of Family Health University College, expressed management and faculty’s excitement witnessing the induction of the third batch of medical students into the profession. She reaffirmed the school’s commitment to bridging the doctor-patient ratio gap in Ghana.
The 2023 course representative of FHMS expressed gratitude to the management for providing a solid platform for their medical studies.
All 54 graduates, who spent six years at the school, were present and successfully inducted into the medical profession, marking a significant achievement for Family Health Medical School.
