Dignitaries Gather as Ghana Bids Farewell to the Late E.T. Mensah

Ghana bid a solemn farewell to the late Council of State Member, E.T. Mensah, in a moving ceremony held at the forecourt of the State House in Accra on Friday, January 5, 2024.
The private internment took place at Prampram following the service, attended by dignitaries from various spheres.
The burial service, graced by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and former President John Dramani Mahama, saw the presence of past and present State functionaries, members of the Diplomatic Corps, representatives from political parties, the Clergy, Traditional leaders, and family and friends.
Stephen Asamoah Boateng, Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, praised Mr. Mensah’s impact on Ghanaian society, citing contributions to sports, employment, and housing.
The National Democratic Congress hailed him as a “treasure trove that was almost inexhaustible,” with General Secretary Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey describing him as a man with passion, vision, and unrelenting energy.
Mrs. Lorinda Presutti Mensah highlighted her late husband’s humility and dedication to principles. She emphasized his love for reading the Bible and acceptance of others. Mr. Mensah’s children praised his leadership as a beacon of hope and progress.
The Most Reverend Professor Emmanuel Asante urged Ghanaians to live lives pleasing to their Maker, emphasizing the transient nature of life in his sermon. E.T. Mensah, aged 77, passed away in South Africa in October 2023, leaving behind seven children.
Born on May 17, 1946, he served as a Minister for Youth and Sports and a Member of Parliament for two decades, holding various government portfolios and remaining a member of the Council of State until his demise.
