Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Deputy Director of Food Production and Kitchen Operations shall provide support to the clerk to Parliament and Management of the service through the Director of Nutrition and Catering Services by performing the following duties:

• Provide technical support in ensuring the delivery of quality meals and beverages to members of Parliament, staff and official quests through efficient management of and event catering within parliamentary precincts
• Implement diverse, nutritious and cost-effective menus tailored to the preferences and dietary needs of members and staff, while ensuring consistency and quality in food preparation and ensure that all meals meet quality, safety, and hygiene standards
• Assist in coordinating catering and hospitality services for official events, receptions and functions hosted by Parliament to ensure a seamless and professional experience
• Assist in managing the kitchen staff, kitchen equipment, and other resources to ensure cost-effectiveness and reduce wastage
• Oversee the procurement and proper storage of ingredients to ensure the efficient and timely production of meals
• Collaborate with environmental and sanitation health officers to inspect the activities of food vendors contracted by Parliament and ensuring that food is sourced and prepared under hygienic conditions and compiles with food safety and health requirements
• Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the clerk to Parliament

Qualification Required & Experience

• A good first degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, Food Science from a recognized University with at least 3 years in a position analogous to assistant director I in a public service institution.

Additional Consideration

• Persons servicing in public service institutions or state agencies are particularly encouraged to apply

Age Limit: Except when an applicant has been in the employment of a public service institution or state agency, the applicant should not be above 45 years of age on the date of appointment to the post.
