Celine Dion’s World Tour Cancelled: Singer Battling Stiff Person Syndrome

Canadian singer Celine Dion is facing a challenging time after being diagnosed with stiff person syndrome, a rare and incurable neurological condition that causes uncontrollable muscle spasms.

The My Heart Will Go On vocalist had to cancel her world tour due to the condition, and her sister, Claudette Dion, recently revealed the toll it has taken on Celine’s life.

In an interview with Le Journal de Montreal (via SheMazing), Claudette shared that Celine needed to take time to ‘rest’ as she navigates her health condition.

Despite the difficulties, Celine is ‘working hard’ in search of a possible cure for what some medical experts call ‘statue syndrome.’ She is consulting with top researchers in the field to explore treatment options for the rare disease.

Claudette expressed admiration for her sister’s dedication to her craft, always striving to be the best in her performances. However, she acknowledged that sometimes, one’s heart and body send clear signals that it’s time to slow down.

The singer’s family, including her other sister Linda, are rallying behind her, offering unwavering support during this challenging period. Linda has even moved into Celine’s home to be by her side.

Speaking about the situation, Claudette emphasized the importance of hope, even in the face of a daunting diagnosis. Though no effective medicine has been found yet, Celine remains resilient and determined.

A source close to Celine shared with US Weekly that while the diagnosis came as a shock, Celine is not losing her fighting spirit.
