Angel FM Suspends Captain Smart as Morning Show Host ;General Manager Confirms; Names 4 People He Offended

Captain Smart has been suspended from his role as Angel FM morning show host – While initial reports suggested that he was suspended for criticizing government, the station has said otherwise – According to the station’s general manager, Captain Smart was suspended for attacking members of government and not government Accra-based Angel FM has confirmed the suspension of its morning show host, Captain Smart, from the Anopa Bofour show. The station’s General Manager, Kwadwo Dickson, has revealed Captain Smart was suspended by their boss for utterances he made on the show. Reports surfaced on social media on Thursday, May 6, 2021, that Captain Smart had been taken off the air.

The reports were started by a post on the Facebook page of IMANI President Franklin Cudjoe. Cudjoe indicated that his sources had told him, Captain Smart had been taken off air for overly criticizing President Nana Akufo-Addo’s government.

Speaking in a video sighted by YEN.com.gh, the Angel FM GM explained that Captain Smart had been suspended not for criticising the government but for personal attacks n t members of the government. According to Kwadwo Dickson, Captain Smart had made utterances against President Akufo-Addo, his vice, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen, Inspector General of Police (IGP) James Oppong Boanuh, among others. The suspension, he added, has come after Captain Smart failed to heed to advice and warnings to desist from such personal attacks.

Captain Smart’s suspension from Angel FM’s morning show comes almost one year after he joined the station. Captain Smart was unveiled as the show’s host on May 28, 2020, with a flyer giving details of the veteran broadcaster’s programme. The unveiling of Captain Smart came after he resigned from Adom FM. Captain Smart officially announced his on his Dwaso Nsem morning show host on Wednesday, May 27, 2020.

After confirming the news of his resignation, Captain Smart bid farewell to his colleagues and listeners and even had a send-off party thrown for him.
