We Need more Female Investors in our Entertainment Industry – Kwesi Martinezz
Popular radio and TV pundit Kwesi Martinezz has raised one of the most important spectrums in the Ghana music industry.
Martinezz who has the industry at heart thinks that the lack of female investors in the music industry has propelled the male dominance in the music industry hence creating more space and avenues for them.
Making his submission on Onua f.m’s ANIGYE MMRE hosted by award-winning media personality Christian Agyei Frimpong, the radio and tv hawker made it clear that the dominance of male musicians in the industry is a result of the investment imbalance.
There are few female investors in our industry which are making it difficult for female musicians to get access to investment opportunities, unlike the other gender where they are a lot of male record labels who are ready to invest he said.
If we have many female investors in our music industry, I think the issue of artiste managers harassing and wanting to sleep with female musicians will come to a halt. Besides, i don’t think if a female artist is working with a female investor or manager there will be issues of sexual harassment. We need to encourage the females to venture or invest in our music industry he stated.
Martinezz further urged female-owned businesses and stakeholders to come on board to invest in female crafts to help push their talent to the top or if possible scale up with the males musicians.
