According to Benjamin Oduro Arhin Jr., widely known as Bnoskka, an Intellectual Property (IP) expert and lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba, musicians who experience financial difficulties or illness and seek public assistance are considered as failed musicians.

In his recent lecture on Intellectual Property and music at the Accra Information and Tourist Centre, he explained why musicians should not struggle financially despite having music as their property, which is consumed daily by the public.

Bnoskka emphasised that music is a form of property, similar to land, a house, a car, or any other valuable item, and that its benefits should be reflected in the artist’s career.

He posed a thought-provoking question: “Who would allow someone to build on their land without taking action?” He further stressed the importance of musicians protecting their property, especially when their work is used on radio, television, and other platforms that generate income.
