Urban Music Awards 2023: Drake and Beyonce are nominated for top honors
The top two nominees for the 2023 Urban Music Awards are American rapper Drake and singer Beyonce.
The well-known occasion is scheduled to occur at London’s Porchester Hall on February 28, 2023. The top honors went to 21 Savage, Beyonce, and Drake.
Each of the aforementioned artists’ albums, “Her Loss” (co-written with 21 Savage), “Renaissance,” and “This Is What I Mean,” has been nominated for one award.
Little Simz’s “No Thank You,” Knucks’ “Alpha Place,” Kojey Radical’s “Reason to Smile,” Chris Brown’s “Breezy,” DJ Khaled’s “God Did,” Cleo Sol’s “Mother,” and Dave’s “We’re All Alone in This Together” are among the other tracks up for consideration.
For the title of Artist of the Year, Chris Brown, Beyonce, Lizzo, Drake, DJ Khaled, Cardi B, Coi Leray, GloRilla, Latto, 21 Savage, Megan Thee Stallion, Nicki Minaj, and Jack Harlow will compete (USA).
To that effect, President and founder of the UMAs, Jordan Kensington, offered the following analysis on the nominees:
“The UMA’s at its core has always been about mentoring, nurturing and assisting the next generation of artists as well as celebrating the present class of amazing breakthrough talent. 2023 marks 19 years of tenacity, hard work, and perseverance.
To see the aftermath of urban music becoming the newly popular genre worldwide is a huge dream we had 19 years ago. We are both excited and pleased that hard work and consistency paid off.”
