Special Competition: Hearts sink Elmina Sharks to confirm top spot in Zone B

Hearts of Oak cemented their place at the top of Zone B of the Special Competition with a thumping win over Elmina Sharks at the Accra Sports Stadium.

A first-half penalty from Christopher Bonney and second-half strikes from Manaf Umar and Fatawu Mohammed gave the Phobians a comfortable 3-1 win over the Ndoum Boys. George Amonoo scored the consolation for Sharks.

In-form Christopher Bonney hit the woodwork after a period of control by the Phobians, which saw Manaf Umar also lay in a pass to Joseph Esso, who failed to connect early on.

With the game headed for the break, Elmina Sharks goalkeeper Richie Atta fouled striker Esso in the box with the referee awarding the home side a penalty.

Bonney, who has scored from the spot in the last two games elected himself for the kick and expertly drills it home for the Rainbow club.

Five minutes after the break, Bonney became provider after his cross was met by youngster Manaf Umar to double the lead for the home side.

Elmina wasted no time is reducing the deficit after George Amonoo beat Richmond Ayi in the Hearts post three minutes after Umar’s goal.

Ten minutes later, Fatawu Mohammed extended the home side’s lead after his effort hit the crossbar and rolled into the net.

The Elmina based side came close to reducing the deficit once again after Benjamin Tweneboah raced into the box but his efforts was weak to trouble Ayi.

Coach Kim Grant took off Mitchelle Sarpong, Christopher Bonney and Manaf Umar for Kofi Kordzi, Obeng Jnr and Anthony Quayson.

Sharks had no way back into the game as the Phobians ended their last home game of the competition with an emphatic victory.

Deputy Sports Minister Reveals Why Ghana Still Owes Former Black Stars Coach Kwesi Appiah

The Deputy Minister of Sports, Perry Curtis Kwabla Okudzeto has finally revealed why former Black Tars’ coach Kwesi Appiah’s salary arrears haven’t been paid.

For the past few weeks now, former Ghana National team coach has been pestering the Ghana Football Association and the Sports ministry for his unpaid salaries.

According to him, Ghana owes him about $180,000 (5 months salary) but all his cries to be paid have fallen on death ears.

Well, yesterday, the Deputy Sports Minister, Perry Curtis Kwabla Okudzeto, finally revealed reasons why the Kwesi Appiah has still not received his payment yet.

The honorable revealed that there were unresolved issues between the former coach and the Ghana Football Association before the contract between the parties was terminated, hence the cause of the arrears adding that the arrears will be paid when the issues have been resolved.

“I know that the [Sports] Ministry is in talks with Kwasi Appiah and at the appropriate time, ones the issues are ironed out, he would be paid,” he told Elton Brobbey on Joy News.

Former Kotoko Player, John Kuffour Granted Ghc 50,000 Bail For Biting Off The Nipple Of His Former Girlfriend

A former Asante Kotoko Football Club defender identified as John Kuffour has finally been granted bail after he was arrested for biting off his ex-girlfriend’s nipple.

Hw was granted bail by the Ejisu District Court hearing the case in the sum of Ghc 50,000 with two sureties.

According to the facts of the case as narrated by Chief Prosecutor Emmanuel Appiah Kubi, the said incident occured early 2017.

John Kuffour and Dennisa Hagan his ex dated for 6 years before the unfortunate incident happened between them.

The naration further revealed that on 1st January 2017, Kuffour visited Dennisa to confront her in relation to a rumour bothering on infidelity.

John didn’t find her responses to his questions satisfying and convincing so a physical altercation ensued, during which he bit her nipple.

Dennisa suffered several injuries due to the attack and has had to undergo surgery.

The case is said to have been adjourned to June this year.

During his career, John Kuffour played Kpando Hearts of Lions for Asante Kotoko.
