Kotoko ready for Aduana, Asec

The Deputy Accra Representative of Asante Kotoko, Nana Kwame Dankwa, has noted that the team’s preparation towards Sunday’s Otumfuo Cup will not affect the club’s performance in the Normalisation Committee (NC) Special Competition.

The Porcupine Warriors are scheduled to play Ivorian giants, Asec Mimosas, at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the reign of their life patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Due to the new development, the Normalisation Committee (NC) of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has rescheduled all northern zone matches to Thursday, May 23.

“As much as we are preparing for the Otumfuo Cup, we are still focused on the special competition, we want to top our group and qualify for the semi-finals and possibly go to Africa,” he told Graphic Sports Online in an interview.

According to him, the Otumfuo Cup is as important as the Special Competition and for that matter, Kotoko are attaching the same importance to it.

“It’s a vital match; as you know he (Otumfuo) is the owner of the team and once this match is to honour him, we should organise and perform well on the pitch. Management even took a decision that if the NC did not allow us to honour the match, we will rather pull out of the special competition,” Mr Dankwa revealed.

Kotoko lead the Group A table with 21 points, but still, need to defeat Aduana Stars to guarantee their qualification to the semi-finals.
