Ex-Ghana U17 defender Abdul Razak Yusif scores for Vitesse Arnhem against Tottenham

Former Black Starlets defender Abdul Razak Yusif was on target for Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem U19 in their 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur U19 in the ongoing Terborg Toernooi.

Yusif has been really good and a standout performer for the Yellow and Black lads in the ongoing youth tournament.

The technically gifted guardsman was magnificent for the side as they pipped South African side Ajax Cape Town 1-0 in the first match.

The Dutch outfit have advanced to the next round of the competition which will end on Sunday, June 2.

Yusif was a member of the Ghana U17 squad that played at the 2017 FIFA U17 World Cup in India.

5-time world footballer of the year, Cristiano Ronaldo is now the fifth top goalscorer in football history as he has overtaken Gerd Muller on the list.

Cristiano Ronaldo is now in the fifth position after his goal-scoring run for Juventus with as his outstanding brilliance singlehandedly inspired Juventus to a comfortable yet narrow 2-1 victory over Parma at the Allianz Stadium last weekend.

Ronaldo has now scored staggering 736 goals in 1028 games at the top level with only a few footballers including Hungarian icon Ferenc Puskas who has 747 goals and Selecao legend Pele who has 767 leading him.

However, should Ronaldo’s goalscoring run continue, he might overtake these two legends.

Brazilian legend, Romario is the second-highest goalscorer in history with 772, while Czech-Austrian legend Josef Bican is the most prolific goal-scorer with 805 goals.

University of Ghana Test their own Version of VAR

University of Ghana, Legon, has raised the bar for media coverage in Ghana as they put to test their own version of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) cameras system in a match between their male football team and UMAT.

The experiment is the first time Ghana is using the VAR technology in a football match where Five cameras plus a drone were used to cover the match.

Images of the experimental technology could be mistaken for a FIFA VAR Team as the students demonstrated high level of intelligence. This is the first time any West African country has reported the introduction of VAR.

This experiment has put Ghana above other African countries in terms of sports coverage and will be a huge step for the Ghana Football Association to accept for the technology to have experimented in the Ghana Premier League or the Division One League.

Meanwhile, this local VAR system is set to be used in the next Ghana Premier League game between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko schedule for Sunday, January 27.

GFA Sacks Black Stars Head Coach Kwesi Appiah

Black Stars Head Coach Kwesi Appiah has been sacked as the coach of the Ghana national team after the Ghana FA dissolved all technical teams of the national teams.

Appiah ended his contract as Black Stars head coach three days ago and there was no clear news about his future until this decision taken by the GFA on Thursday night.

Kwesi Appiah signed a two-year contract in May 2017 for a second stint with the Ghana national team.

Despite the initial running out in May last year, he was told to stay on for the two 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe -which he won.
