Shatta Wale Murders Stonebwoy & Samini At TV 3 Music Awards

The undisputed African Dancehall King Charles Nii Armah Mensah Junior, aka Champion Shatta Wale floored his archrivals by winning 8 awards at the 3 Music Awards yesterday. This is a remarkable achievement for Shatta Movement fans and their godfather. Compared to his long time competitors, Stonebwoy and Samini,  Shatta Wale bagged home  his 8 awards out of a total of 11 competitive nominations.

According to FixTheCountryGhana.com, Shatta Wale is a rare breed who has mastered the art of showbiz. Stonebwoy went home with only 3 awards. Samini went home with nothing.

The following is a breakdown of the awards won by Shatta Wale.

Viral Song Of The Year

Winner: Shatta Wale – Gringo.

There is no doubt about this. Gringo was a controversial and viral song which travelled across the country. Not even Sarkodie’s diss track (Advice) against Wale could match up with Gringo. We are so happy for the champion.

Song Of The Year

Winner: Shatta Wale – My Level.

It wasn’t easy, but Shatta Wale’s My Level sat on top of Kuami Eugene, Adina, King Promise, KiDi, Yaa Pono, Kwesi Arthur and Stonebwoy

Music Man Of The Year

Winner: Shatta Wale

He deserves it. We could all hear Shatta Wale songs dominating the airwaves. Wale controlled the industry with hit songs such as Gringo, My Level, Amount, Thunder Fire, Yee koom and several more. Kuami Eugene was another artist who did well last year, but his influence is far less than Shatta. The other nominees in this category were Stonebwoy, Medikal, Sarkodies, King Promise, KiDi, kwesi Arthur

Fan Army of the Year

Winner: Shatta Movement

Let’s not debate here. Shatta Movement is moving train with enormous momentum. They are just unstoppable. Shatta is for the streets and the ghettoes. They are also for him

Digital Act Of The Year

Winner: Shatta Wale

I don’t know much about the criteria used in determining the winner in this category. But if we consider the fact that Shatta Wale’s Reign Album performed well on International music download platforms, then we would agree with the results.

Reggae Dancehall Song of the Year

Winner: Shatta Wale – Gringo.

😃This is too much.  Lyrically, gringo is an empty song. But look at the wonders it is performing. Sometimes, we don’t necessarily want sensible songs. Shatta Wale is the only artist who knows how to win with “jama”songs.

Reggae Dancehall Act of the Year

Winner: Shatta Wale

Here, it’s the same gringo song which enabled him to win this award; that is his popular dancehall song. Stonebwoy’s better dancehall song was Top Skanka, but it didn’t go viral like Shatta Wale’s gringo

As for SAMINI, he has relaxed a bit. He seems to be unsure of his duties as musician. The fact is, Samini is a good dancehall act, but he is lazy. He doesn’t release up to 5 songs a year. How can he win in this category?

Video of the Year

Winner- Shatta Wale – Gringo.

This is a big surprise for Shatta Wale. He is known for shooting bad music videos. Stonebwoy invests more in making quality videos than Shatta Wale. But thanks to Nana Appiah Mensah (Nam1) and Zylofone, Shatta was able to shoot an expensive video to match his gringo song. The video was directed by Sesan, an experienced director.

I can assure you that if Shatta had not signed to Zylofone, he wouldn’t have even shot a video for Gringo.

Stonebwoy took his three awards from the following categories.

Album of the Year – Stonebwoy’s Epistles of Mama

Most Streamed Artist on Boomplay – Stonebwoy

Afrobeats Song of the Year – Stonebwoy’s Bawasaaba

Wendy Shay also won an award for Best Breakthrough Act of the Year.

Medikal was adjudged as the HipHop/Hiplife Act of the Year

Highlife song of the Year – Kuami Eugene Wish Me Well

Highlife Act of the Year – Kuami Eugene

Best Collaboration of the Year – Kwesi Arthurs’s Anthem

We congratulate all the winners. Do You Think Shatta Wale Can Repeat His Success in This Year’s VGMA? Read The Number 1 Trending Article On This Website and Find Out.
