Nuno Santo Sacked by Al-Ittihad After Reported Fallout with Karim Benzema

Former Tottenham coach, Nuno Espírito Santo, finds himself out of a job once again, this time being sacked by Al-Ittihad, a Saudi football club.

The decision comes in the wake of a tumultuous period, during which Nuno reportedly clashed with the team’s star player, Karim Benzema, following a string of defeats in the Saudi Pro League.

Nuno’s tenure at Al-Ittihad was marred by disappointing results and internal strife. The final straw for the club came when the Portuguese coach failed to guide the team out of their AFC Champions League group, a major setback that was compounded by the team’s inability to secure a victory in any of their last five league matches.

Despite boasting a talented squad that includes notable players like former Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante, ex-Celtic winger Jota, and former Liverpool player Fabinho, Al-Ittihad’s performance under Nuno’s leadership left much to be desired.

Out of their last nine games across all competitions, the team managed to win just two, a statistic that raised concerns and frustration within the club.

The final straw occurred after an embarrassing defeat to Al-Quwa Al-Juwiya, a match that sent tempers soaring in the team’s changing room. Benzema, the star player, and Nuno were said to have exchanged insults, reflecting the high tensions within the club during this difficult period.

Reports indicate that Al-Ittihad is now on the lookout for a new manager, with a preference for a French manager to appease Benzema.

Among the rumored candidates for the role is Laurent Blanc, who previously managed Lyon and possesses the experience and knowledge that the club may be seeking.
