Nigerian Billionaire Set To Acquire English Championship club Sheffield United
Dozy Mmobuosi, a Nigerian software entrepreneur, is close to buying Sheffield United, an English club, for about 90 million pounds despite the club’s transfer restriction.
According to reports, Mmobuosi is purportedly nearing deal completion. He reportedly needs to pass the owners and directors test of the EFL, but except that, he is qualified.
Nigerian businessman Dozy Mmobuosi is estimated to be worth $7 billion.
His net worth is primarily derived from his ownership of Tingo Mobile PLC and Tingo International Holdings.
He also oversees the Dozy Mmobuosi Foundation, whose goal is to advance African development and foster a climate in which Africans may prosper.
Nwassa, a digital agri-marketplace platform from Tingo Mobile, gives farmers in Nigeria and elsewhere access to weather forecasts, market data, and digital payment alternatives via Tingo Pay.
His initial tech endeavor was “Flashmecash,” the country of Nigeria’s first SMS banking service. Later, he made a tidy profit on its sale.
Mmobuosi is a digital entrepreneur who also invests in the soccer industry. According to GQ.co.za, he has “financed scouting plans, training regimens, and talent management for Porsche United and Nassarawa United, two powerful grassroots clubs in Nigeria.”

Additionally, for an estimated $108 million, he will take over as the new owner of Sheffield United, a British football team.
According to The Times, he is close to purchasing the Bramall Lane club, if certain requirements are met.
Moreover, the owner of the Championship team is in negotiations with the Nigerian billionaire after American investor Henry Mauriss’ attempt to acquire the Yorkshire club was unsuccessful.
According to the BBC, if he passes the owners’ and directors’ test of the English Football League, he will take ownership of the team and assist in lifting the current transfer embargo by paying off the team’s debts.
