Nigeria Triumphs In Africa Cycling Championship With 2 Gold Medals

Nigeria won the Elite Women’s Road Race (EWRR) and Youth Girls Road Race (YGRR) in the 2023 African Road Cycling Championship in Ghana under the leadership of Upkeseraye Ese and Olawale Peace Eunice.

The winning Nigerian team, which also included Godwin Osaretin Grace, took home the silver medal in the YGRR division after covering a distance of 24 km over two laps at an average speed of 29.67 km/h.

In the EWRR category, Burkinabe Awa Bamogo won the silver medal after six laps of 72 km with an average speed of 35.82 km/h, and Mauritius Marigny Lagesse Lucie took home the bronze.

In the Youth Boys Road Race division, Dupuy Samuel Bernard and Ndriamanampy Juliano Nogne of Mauritius won the first and second places, respectively, while Algerian Gawir Mohamed finished third over a 36 km course over three laps at an average speed of 36.98 km/h.
