Minister Urges Private Sector Support for 13th African Games in Ghana
The Minister for Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, has issued a rallying cry to private-sector companies, urging them to contribute to the success of the upcoming 13th African Games to be hosted in Ghana.
Under the theme “Empowering & Igniting Young Visionaries,” Minister Ussif expressed gratitude to Absa Bank for leading a youth development initiative in collaboration with the Mastercard Foundation.
This initiative aligns with transformative policies such as the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program (NEIP), Free Senior High School (Free SHS), YouStart, and the Youth in Agriculture program, all designed to empower young visionaries across Ghana.
In a passionate call to action, Ussif urged the youth to actively engage in climate change issues, emphasizing the importance of their innovative solutions in shaping policy-making processes. He highlighted the successful collaboration between the private sector and the government, represented by Absa Bank, in creating a conducive atmosphere for youth development.
The Minister challenged the youth to leverage the opportunities presented at the forum, encouraging them to become the visionaries shaping Ghana’s future. He emphasized the crucial role of a vibrant youth population in driving the nation towards prosperity.
In a significant announcement, Ussif proudly revealed Ghana’s hosting of the 13th African Games in Accra next year. He invited young visionaries to actively participate and showcase their diverse skills, specifically calling for private sector sponsorship.
Ussif stated, “I extend a special call to the private sector, urging their active participation and sponsorship of the 13th African Games,” noting that such an investment would contribute to the event’s success and leave a lasting impact on youth development through sports.
Mrs. Nana Essilfuah Tamakloe, the Director of Marketing and Corporate Affairs of Absa Bank Ghana, highlighted the significance of connecting with the youth and helping them transition from the classroom to the world of work.
She emphasized Absa Bank’s commitment to inclusion, showcasing their dedication to grooming skills and preparing the youth for the job market.
The collaborative effort between Absa Bank Ghana Ltd and the Mastercard Foundation materialized in a ReadytoWork youth engagement event at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) on November 27 and 28.
This event provided a platform for preparing the youth effectively for the job market, bringing together stakeholders in the youth development ecosystem for impactful conversations.
