JUST IN: Leicester City Part Ways with Manager Brendan Rodgers
Leicester City Football Club has announced the mutual termination of Brendan Rodgers’ contract as the club’s Men’s First Team Manager.
The decision comes after a string of disappointing performances in the 2022/2023 Premier League season that saw the Foxes winless in their last five matches.
The final straw came on April 1, 2023, when Leicester suffered a 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace, prompting the club’s management to relieve Rodgers of his duties.
The Northern Ireland manager had been at the helm of affairs at the King Power Stadium since 2019, where he led the club to some of its most significant achievements in recent years.
These include their first-ever FA Cup triumph in 2021, the FA Community Shield in the same year, two of the Club’s three highest Premier League finishes, and consecutive European campaigns, including their first European semi-final in 2022.
According to the club’s statement, Brendan Rodgers is leaving as one of the most successful managers in the club’s history. His tenure was marked by impressive performances that saw the Foxes defeat top Premier League sides such as Chelsea and Manchester City to lift the FA Cup and Community Shield respectively.
Rodgers’ departure is a significant blow to Leicester City’s hopes of securing a top-four finish this season. The Foxes currently sit seventh in the Premier League table, eight points behind fourth-placed West Ham United, with just seven games left to play.
Leicester City Football Club has reached a mutual agreement with Brendan Rodgers that will see him leave the Club after four years as our Men’s First Team Manager.
