Kumasi VIP bus station resumes work after three weeks lockdown

The VIP bus station in Kumasi has resumed operations after three weeks of observing the partial lockdown.

The bus station earlier halted its services in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak in Ghana that has so far claimed about 9 lives with 1042 total confirmed cases.

Manager of the station, Ato Mensah said services will become fully functional starting today April 20, 2020.

He said the necessary safety measures have been put in place for each passenger before getting on board.

“We have parked the buses for three weeks now and it hasn’t moved since.

This morning we decided to officially open our services to the general public. We have put the necessary safety measures in place.

For instance, we have placed soap and water in every key area in the station. We will give each passenger a nose mask and the drivers as well.

We’ve also spoken to some health workers to come to assist us in checking the body temperature of each passenger before getting on board” he stated.

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo has announced the lifting the 3-week lockdown on Greater Accra and Kumasi, with effect from Monday, April 20.

He still maintains that all other social distancing measures be observed indicating that churches, Schools both Public and Private, will remain shut.
