Kirin Cup: 9-men Black Stars Beat Chile 3-1 On Penalties

The 2022 edition of the Kirin Cup tournament hosted in Japan saw Black Stars finishing third after defeating Chile in penalties shoot-out.

On Tuesday morning, Black Stars head coach Otoo Addo made five changes to his team for their second game with Chile.

After 90 minutes of thriller, which saw the West African side finish the game with nine men, the Stars managed to secure a 3-1 win in the penalty shootout to clinch the third spot.

Both teams failed to find the back of the net after they failed utilize their chances in the first half of the game.

The second half saw Black Stars struggling a lot after Seidu Alidu and Mubarak Wakaso were sent off, leaving Ghana playing 9 against 11.

However, Otoo Addo’s men managed to force the game into penalties shoot-out after goalless in 90minutes.

Abdul Manaf Nurudeen was the hero of  the day as the Eupen goalkeeper, made two saves to help Ghana earn a hard-fought victory.
