Italian Serie A club, Juventus, has joined forces with former Black Stars midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah to unveil an academy in Ghana, marking the latest expansion of the European football giant into over 50 countries and across all continents.

Kwadwo Asamoah spearheads this initiative, and he is joined by Massimiliano Colasuonno Taricone, the Consul of Ghana to Italy, in their collective effort to promote Juventus’s values in Africa.

At the unveiling event, the Italian Consul emphasized that the initiative has garnered support from various entities, including Juventus, the Italian Embassy in Ghana, the Ministry of Sports, and the Ministry of Education.

The Juventus Academy will find its home at the SMAC Sports Center located within Casa Trasaco in Accra.

The Juventus Academy has emerged as a beacon of football excellence, offering young talents the opportunity to not only hone their skills on the pitch but also to develop themselves as individuals. The aim is to empower these young athletes both in the world of sports and in life beyond the field.

During the press conference, Kwadwo Asamoah, who represented Juventus during his playing career, expressed, “Our mission is to bring the Juventus spirit to kids in Ghana. We want to instill not just football skills but also values that will guide them through life.”

Beyond the football pitch, the SMAC Sports Center boasts a range of facilities, including paddle tennis, a basketball court, a volleyball area, a skating rink, a restaurant, futsal, and a family area where parents and guardians can relax while their children play.

Additionally, four classrooms with a capacity of 20-30 individuals each already exist within the center. Ownership of the facility is divided equally between the two partners, and the academy is open to both girls and boys.

SMAC is set to participate in Juventus’s annual tournament, which brings together the club’s academies from around the world. The academy will also provide opportunities for local coaches and scouts to identify talented young footballers in Ghana and potentially beyond.
