Ghana’s Women’s Team Gears Up for WAFCON Qualifier Against Namibia
In a bid to secure a coveted spot in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2024, Ghana’s national women’s football team, the Black Queens, are set to face Namibia in a crucial final-round qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, December 1.
Having last participated in the tournament in 2018 when it was hosted in Ghana, Nora Hauptle’s squad aims to make a triumphant return, overcoming Namibia in a two-legged encounter.
The Black Queens demonstrated their prowess in the first round, dispatching Rwanda with an impressive 12-0 aggregate win in September.

With no injury concerns, all 23 players completed the final training session on Thursday, gearing up for a challenging match.
Coach Hauptle, seeking a remarkable 10th successive win, expressed confidence, stating, “We are fully determined to fulfill our job in the first leg against Namibia.”
Six players from the current squad featured in the previous WAFCON, while FC Nordsjaelland’s Jennifer Cudjoe and 16 others are eyeing their debut in the prestigious competition. Cudjoe emphasized the team’s collective goal, saying, “We all want to be there because that’s our goal.”
The match against Namibia is crucial for the Black Queens, with the first leg scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in Accra. The team’s focus is clear – to secure victory and take a significant step toward realizing their dream of competing in the WAFCON 2024 in Morocco.
