Confirmed Coronavirus Cases In Ghana Rise To 16 As President Akuffo Addo Allows Ghana Card Registration To Continue

Ghana has confirmed its cases of coronavirus pandemic has increased to 16.

The Ghana Health Service’s website dedicated to updating Ghanaians on COVID-19 cases confirmed the development.

Confirmed Cases Of COVID-19 In Ghana Rises To Sixteen (16) As At 20 March 2020 – 09:45GMT

Five (5) new confirmed cases on the 19th March 2020 were reported from Greater Accra Region.

— 29-year-old Ghanaian lady; resident of Accra; no history of travel; sample confirmed positive in the laboratory

— 34-year-old Ghanaian lady resident of Accra; contact of a confirmed case at place of work; sample confirmed positive in the laboratory

— 53-year-old Ghanaian male, resident of Tema; no history of travel, no evidence of close contact with confirmed case; sample confirmed positive in the laboratory

— 41-year-old Ghanaian male; arrived in Ghana by KLM on the 15 March 2020; indicated exposure with family members in Amsterdam exhibiting respiratory symptoms and also on the flight with some passengers sneezing and coughing; sample confirmed positive in the laboratory.

— 36-year-old Ghanaian male; resident of Paris, France; date of arrival in Ghana unconfirmed; no evidence of contact with infected person;

Contact tracing has been initiated in all these confirmed cases.

No deaths related to the COVID-19 virus have been reported in South Africa despite the growing number of patients.

This brings to a total of sixteen (16) confirmed cases in Ghana, with no death.

The Ghanaian government has introduced several measures to curtail the spread — including closing schools, stopping travelers from badly affected countries from visiting South Africa and prohibiting gatherings of over 100 persons.

(VIDEO) Husband Who Wanted To Buy Food For His Pregnant Wife, Beaten To Death By Police In Abuja

Residents of Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, are furious over the death of one of their own at the hands of the police who were supposed to protect, enforce the law and guide citizens.

The deceased went out to buy food for her starving pregnant wife during the lockdown order in the capital. The man, unfortunately, lost his life at the hands of the police who didn’t exercise patience with him but beat him for arguing which lead to his death, an eyewitness reported.

According to him, the deceased explained that he needs to get the food for his pregnant wife but the police officers refused him due to the lockdown order. The police officers and the man got into a heated argument which sparked rage in the police and they beat him till he collapsed and died, naijapals report.

(Video) UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson Tests Positive for Coronavirus; Watch His Reaction

UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson has confirmed he had developed mild symptoms – “a temperature and persistent cough” – over the last 24 hours and, on the advice of the chief medical officer, he took a test which returned positive for coronavirus.

Johnson said he is self-isolating and working from home. He said thanks to “the wizardry of modern technology” he will continue to lead the national fight back against the virus.

He wrote on Twitter:

”Over the last 24 hours I have developed mild symptoms and tested positive for coronavirus. I am now self-isolating, but I will continue to lead the government’s response via video-conference as we fight this virus. Together we will beat this. #StayHomeSaveLives”
