Ernest Nuamah Tipped For Greatness By Ghanaian Legend Asamoah Gyan
Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has identified Ernest Nuamah as a player to watch out for in the future.
Gyan was impressed with Nuamah’s performance during the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Algeria, where the youngster donned Gyan’s favorite jersey number, 3.
Nuamah played on the flanks and was the star of the match, dazzling fans with his skills and providing the assist for the game’s only goal, scored by Abdul Fatawu Issahaku.
Ghana’s win secured their qualification for the tournament, which is set to take place in June in Morocco.
Gyan, who was in attendance at the Baba Yara Stadium for the match, took to Twitter to heap praise on the up-and-coming player. He called Nuamah “another next big thing” and acknowledged his choice of jersey number.
Nuamah was initially part of the 55-man squad announced by former coach Otto Addo ahead of the World Cup but failed to make the final 26.
However, his outstanding performance in the U-23 AFCON qualifier could be the breakthrough he needs to make it to the senior team.
New Black Stars coach Chris Hughton was also in attendance at the match and would have undoubtedly taken note of Nuamah’s skills.
With preparations for the AFCON tournament now underway, Nuamah and his fellow Black Meteors will be hoping to secure a place in the Olympic Games, set to take place in Paris next year.
Nuamah’s performance in the U-23 AFCON qualifier highlights the talent that exists in Ghana’s youth teams, and with the right guidance and opportunities, players like Nuamah could make a significant impact on the senior team.
As Gyan noted, Nuamah is certainly a player to watch out for in the future.
