Obrafour reveals what caused his beef with Lord Kenya

Obrafour the rap Sofo has finally revealed what caused his beef with Lord Keny back in the day when they both started singing in the late 1990s.

Their beef which is believed to be one of the biggest in the music industry of Ghana raged on for years until Lord Kenya became an evangelist and completely abandoned the hiplife music career.

For the past two decades, none of the veteran rappers have come out to explain what really started the beef in the first place until now.

In an interview with Radio Central hosted by Amansan Krakye, Obrafour has finally opened up. According to the legendary musician, it all started when he referred to himself as the best rapper in one of his songs.

Obrafour described himself as the “the Rap Heavy Weight Champion in a song.”. A self-proclaimed title which did not sit well with an equally best rapper at the time, Lord Kenya sparking the beef.

“I was the first musician ever to say I was the Rap Heavy Weight Champion in a song. Any time Lord Kenya dropped his album, people rushed to buy just to hear if he had thrown shots at me and it was the same when I also dropped an album.”

“We were mature and open-minded about it and we realized it will inure to our benefit because during that time we understood the benefits and we played along,” he told Amansan Krakye.

Nigerian traders attacked in Ghana, shops ransacked

Some Ghanaian traders on Wednesday ransacked the shops of their Nigerian counterparts at Suame near the country’s second biggest city, Kumasi.

A significant number of Nigerian traders selling at Suame locked up their shops to avoid being attacked.

The Nigerian traders opened their shops following assurances from the Police about improved security after almost a week of similar attacks.

But the Police failed to honour their promise until the Nigerian shops were raided.

The Ghanaian traders burnt tyres and chanted war songs, compelling the Nigerian traders to lock up their shops and flee the markets.

Concerns with Nigerians

The Ghanaian traders have accused their Nigerian counterparts of selling substandard products and engaging in illegal activities.

They have also accused the Nigerian traders of flouting the country’s law that restrict selling in the retail market to Ghanaians.

But the Nigerian traders have denied the accusations.

Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Traders Association, Chief Kizito Obiora, said the Nigerians have been targeted, for the involvement of Nigerian nationals in the recent alleged kidnappings in Ghana.

“We have been forced to close their shops since last Friday and all through the weekend, and the perpetrators are demanding that we leave the country to Nigeria. But Nigerians at Suame Magazine are law-abiding”, he said.

He said the Nigerian traders are living in fear in the wake of the attacks.

Government condemns attack on Nigerians

Ghana’s Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has cautioned Ghanaians not to take the laws into their own hands in attacking the Nigerian traders.

He hinted that the Trade Ministry and the Immigration Service are resolving the impasse.

“If someone has violated the law, for instance, you work without a fire license or permit, then the law will deal with you. Let me stress that the Ministry of Trade and the Ghana Immigration Service are dealing with the impasse. ”

I have no children and so what? – Uncle Ebo Whyte

Uncle Ebo Whyte has opened up about his marriage life and made some startling revelations about not having biological children.

The renowned playwright, who has been married for 36 years, disclosed that his family and that of his wife (Florence) used to put pressure on them over their childlessness.

But, according to him, they didn’t allow the pressure to determine the fate of their marriage. They are currently a happy couple because “my wife is a very patient woman and we also built our marriage on friendship.”

“There is no reason why the children are not coming. It wasn’t a medical problem too. So, we have decided that we are not going to stress ourselves. What we did was to dedicate our childless to the service of God and mankind,” he told NEWS-ONE in an exclusive interview on Thursday.

“We have rather opened our home and adopted children. From the initial days we actually adopted children, now we are in a happy place where children adopt us with the blessings of their biological parents,” he added.

According to him, he loves his wife so much and getting married to her was one of the best things to have happened to his life.

Speaking about family pressure, Uncle Ebo added that “we dealt with it as team. I dealt with my people and told them they can’t come and ask me why we are not having a child. It is our marriage it is not theirs. So they should shut up. And so that was what I did. My mother dropped first hint and I let it slid but the second time I went to her and said mom if Florence was your daughter and she had been married for five years and came complaining to you that her mother-in-law came putting pressure on her what will you say? And her response was that Kwabena I understand what you are saying.”

Meanwhile, the award-winning playwright will be staging his next play titled ‘I Want Your Wife’ on June 13 and 19 and July 6 and 7 at the National Theatre in Accra. It is a tale that aims to educate couples on how to keep their partners.

“This play is different. It is something that every Ghanaian will recognise and relate to,” he indicated.
