Comedian Steve Harvey lands in Ghana for Year of Return

The Year of Return, an initiative aimed at marking 400 years since the first black slaves landed in Jamestown Virginia is taking off like fire.

Already, the initiative that urges Africans in the diaspora to come back home, has seen an array of celebrities make their way into Ghana to explore, learn and appreciate their roots.

American comedian and television host, Steve Harvey, has joined the array of African American diasporan who have visited to learn more about their roots to slavery.

The Minister of Tourism, Babara Oteng Gyasi and the Year of Tourism committee met up with the comedian at the W.E.B DuBois Centre in Cantonments, Accra.

Steve Harvey was greeted by Mrs Oteng Gyasi who disclosed she was ecstatic to have the actor visit the country.

The comedian is in town with his family to visit the various tourist sites including the castles where slaves were kept, learn more about Ghanaian music and also about the African roots.

Steve Harvey is not the only celebrity from the United States to have come to Ghana.

Actor Boris Johnson, in late 2018, along with some of his friends from Hollywood, came to the country to spend Christmas.

The team included Nicole Ari Parker, Diggy Simmons, Micheal Jai White, Anthony Anderson (of Blackish), Rosario Dawson, Jidenna, Cynthia Bailey, Bozoma Saint John and many others

They explored the castles, markets, traditions, culture. In their adventures and quest to learn more about traditions, Michael Jai White got enstooled as ‘Odupong’ of Akwamu Traditional Area by the Akwamuhene Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III – Akwamumanhene.

Also, in honour of the celebrations, the committee organised a music festival which saw sensational artiste Deborah Cox, Ernie Smith, Irvin Mayfield and reggae band Third World coming to the country to perform and explore the music, art and culture.

After tracing his roots to Gabon, ace actor Samuel L Jackson, also made his way to Ghana to shoot a documentary on slavery.

His adventures in the country included visiting local markets like Makola, fish markets in cape coast and many others to have a feel of the culture and the people.

‘‘I Caught My Wife In Bed With My Own Friend; It Was The Reason Why I Stopped Doing Music’’ – Ofori Amponsah (video)

Award-winning Ghanaian musician, Ofori Amponsah in a recent interview has indicated why he had to stop doing music for some time stating that his own friend he trusted so much destroyed his marriage. He noted that he couldn’t stand the betrayal from his friend and wife.

He revealed he got very devastated that he could not write, produce or even perform his songs during that period.

In the interview, he noted;

“Someone I helped entered my home and destroyed my marriage. Someone I opened my gates to could do that to me.

”That day I had a show at the national theatre but I performed poorly on stage because I was surprised that someone I helped would do that to me. Since then, I couldn’t write, sing or do anything. For about three years I was shut. No shows, nothing. I was in my room. I became lonely”

The only thing I could remember at that moment was to pray. I was there one day when a prophet called me and advised me that if I don’t run to God, nothing will work out well for me.”

Wendy Shay Tells President Akuffo Addo To Invite Her To The Jubilee House

Self-acclaimed Queen mother of Ghana music industry, Wendy Shay has sent a message to the first gentleman of the country, Nana Akuffo Addo requesting an invite to the Jubilee House.

According to her, she intends to discuss with the president, pertinent issues crippling the creative industry.

The Astalavista hitmaker further stated that female artistes in Ghana are really suffering and since she is ruling the female fraternity, she has to be invited so they discuss possible solutions.

She ended by saying that since Nana Addo invited Shatta the King, She’s definitely the next to get an invite to the Jubilee House.

(Video) Davido and Chioma Spotted Together in A Vehicle But Still Not In Talking Terms

Barely 24 hours following controversial journalist, Kemi Olunloyo ‘s warning to Davido to brace for the ugly side of his fiancée Chioma, a video of the two has cropped up in which things are looking ugly.

From the video, both appeared not talking to each other as Davido picked Chioma her friends up from the airport earlier today after arriving in Nigeria.

Per reports, Davido together with his chef after arriving at the airport with their son picked Chioma but surprisingly, on their way home, both were no speaking to each other as Chioma appeared to be looking through the window away from Davido.

This whole disarray began when rumors of Perruzi sleeping with Chioma sparked with Davido and Chioma unfollowing each other on social media to Davido writing that he need to medically ascertain the paternity of his son.
