Akufo Addo Voted African Leader of the year After Renting A Jet for GHC21 Million
Ghana’s President, Nana Akufo Addo of Ghana was on Saturday, January 11th chosen as the #AfricanLeaderoftheYear 2019 by the pan-African media outfit, The Difference Newspaper.
President Addo emerged after a keen contest that saw Abdalla Hamdok of Sudan and Paul Kagame of Rwanda emerge as first and second runners up respectively.
The previous winners were President John Magufuli of Tanzania (2017) and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia (2018).
According to a statement by the Executive Editor of The Difference newspaper, Mr. Tony Opara, the core criteria for winning the Award have demonstrated commitment to development, democracy, and freedom, African Integration and commitment to the promotion and protection of media rights and institutions building.
The Award was presented to the president at a later dinner party by Mr. Paul Kagame.
